Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Do I have to pay anything up front?
A.      Yes. My clients understand that 10% of the total project
cost is due up front. Or if you are on a financing option then the first payment
would be due up front. This protects me from wasted man hours and ensures that your
project will be done in a timely manner.
Q. How long does it take?
A.      Depending on what you are looking for it can take anywhere
from a week to several months. It really depends on how much work has to be done
to accomplish what you need. Say for example you request a simple three page informational
site about a business. Something like that would take about a week or two. More
pages and more features means more time would be needed. I make sure to give you
a proper time estimate up front and guarantee my work to be done before the deadline
I give you.
Q. Do I have to pay for hosting?
A.      Yes. You will need to set up a hosting account with Godaddy.com
or another Windows hosting provider. Hosting costs are fairly cheap (as low as $4/mo)
and I will of course walk you through setting up your hosting account.
Q. Do I have to provide images and/or text?
A.      Images are one of the things we discuss up front. I can
provide images for additional cost; depending on what images you need the cost may
vary. However, you can provide the images for me if you wish. Just as long as the
images you provide do not belong to somebody else or are otherwise copyrighted.
You do provide the text. This ensures that your site says exactly
what you want it to say. Text can be changed and updated anytime during the development
process.
If you opted for a content management system, then I provide
sample content and you just change it once the site is turned over to you. You can
see how this option makes content management very easy!
Q. How do I communicate during development of my site?
A.      Generally I try to stick to email communication to increase
productivity, but occasionally I might ask to speak with you over the phone in order
to gain a more accurate picture of what you are looking for with your site. Once
complex development begins I will communicate with you regularly to update you on
my progress.
Q. Do I have to provide the domain name?
A.      You are welcome to provide a domain name you have already
purchased, but it is not required. I am more than happy to provide a domain name
for you. You give me what name you like, along with at least three alternatives
as domain names are very often taken already, and I'll take care of the rest. If
no names you provided are available then I will gather a list of available alternatives
and send them to you. Sometimes people don't realize while "somename.com" might
be taken, very often "somename.net" is available instead. I'll be sure to inform
you of all this once we begin discussing your project.
Q. How do I pay for my site?
A.      I support all major credit cards and paypal. Checks should
be made out to Chevtek Web Solutions.
